The lesson also investigates life in Antarctica. A substantial wildlife section introduces some of Antarctica’s best-known animals, including penguins, seals and whales. Children discover how Antarctic animals survive extreme cold through adaptations such as dense feathers, blubber, large bodies and huddling together.

Children are also introduced to krill and explore a simple Antarctic food chain, helping them understand how living things depend upon one another for food.
