A clear and engaging KS2 English PowerPoint lesson (21 slides) on adverbs. Pupils learn what adverbs are, how they describe verbs and how to use them correctly in sentences. Includes examples, practice questions, independent task, word bank and plenary.
Description
This engaging Adverbs KS2 PowerPoint lesson (21 slides) helps pupils understand how adverbs describe actions and add detail to sentences.
The lesson introduces the definition of an adverb and explains how adverbs describe verbs by telling us how, when or where something happens. Pupils explore examples such as quickly, quietly, happily and loudly and learn how adverbs can improve sentence writing.
The PowerPoint also explains that many adverbs are formed by adding –ly to adjectives. Pupils practise identifying adverbs and using them correctly in sentences.
Throughout the lesson, pupils complete short activities and questions that encourage them to recognise adverbs and apply them in their own writing.
The resource finishes with an independent task, adverb word bank, recap slide and exit ticket, helping teachers check understanding and reinforce learning.
This lesson is ideal for KS1 and KS2 English grammar teaching, literacy lessons and sentence building activities.
